Community College

Most community colleges will allow homeschool students to take classes even if they haven’t officially graduated from high school. They will, however, usually require a high school diploma or equivalent before they will award a degree.

If a skilled trade is what interests your child, community college is often an excellent choice for learning that trade and also networking with people in the trade for apprenticeships and future jobs.

Some community colleges offer discounts for students under 18. In almost all cases, community college tuition is less expensive than that of 4-year colleges or universities, making it an excellent option for beginning college. Students can take lower level general education and elective courses in Community College and then transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.
